I almost had a '92 SE Esprit. I had a loan all arranged with a bank and check in hand. You would be amazed at how inexpensive a good esprit actually is. I've seen some of the 88-89 Peter Stevens style esprits well under $20k. Even the '92 I was considering was $22k. The 4-cyl has a pretty big turbo, and it punches you in the back of the head when it kicks in. The guy selling his '92 had a '97 TT V8 and told me the '92 felt faster because of that (it obviously isn't faster though). The 92 and the 98 can barely be distinguished, if it wasn't for the retarded wing on the '92. I ponder at night if I made the right choice. It was the insurance, and lack of dealers/parts in the area that kept me from getting it.
